On Holy Ground

Street photographers in Cuzco have developed a post-production technique that tells a much larger story. When shooting portraits for identity cards, they expose directly onto photographic paper and develop the negative within their cameras. They then apply mercury chrome to the faces of their customers and finally rephotograph the negative. The result of this procedure: Lighter skin.
